An Energy Efficient Waste Water Treatment Solution for ALL

BioClean is a Rotating Biological Contactor (RBC) system. Rotating Biological Contactor (RBC) is a type of secondary wastewater treatment which consists
of a series of closely spaced, parallel discs mounted on a rotating shaft, placed just above the surface of the wastewater. Microorganisms grow on the surface of the discs which enable degradation of wastewater pollutants and improve water quality.
This completely modular system can incorporate all processes, including primary settlement, anaerobic digestion, anoxic and aerobic treatment, final settlement, and polishing and disinfection in a single arrangement.

High-Quality Media

BioClean’s media is made with flat virgin Polypropylene (PP) discs that have a diameter of 2.0 meters.
This high-quality media also ensures a consistent biofilm thickness with continuous biofilm sloughing to maintain an ideal biomass for effective treatment.
The first and the last disc have a thickness of 15 mm and the interior discs 1.7 mm.

First Step: Wastewater is collected and enters the primary settlement zone

The wastewater enters the primary tank in which the solids and liquids separate. As sludge settles at the bottom, scum forms on the surface, then the pre-treated water flows into the BioClean RBC System.

Second Step: Liquid Enters the BioClean RBC System

In the BioClean RBC System the wastewater is exposed to a series of discs on which a matrix of microorganisms grow. The bacteria then consume the nutrients in the water. The discs rotation creates a gentle flow path, moving wastewater along the zone while sloughing ageing surplus biomass from the discs. This enables space for new biofilm development. Should nutrient reduction (denitrification) be required, anoxic conditions can be created in the primary settler by recirculation of the mixed liquor from the aerobic zone through the first stage of primary settlement.

Third Step: Final Settlement Zone

The treated effluent flows into a lamella clarifier, where accumulated sludge in the bottom of the unit is periodically removed with a pump. The swimming sludge is also frequently removed through an automatic valve.
